Day 93: 7/2/2018

A LOT happened today!

I felt more productive from the beginning to the end of the day. I woke up though struggling to get up for a bit, I still got up and went out for a run. Today’s run was not as long as usual but at least I did it. Yeah! #1

The morning hours remained rather productive and I felt good about them. After the run, P’Gluay and I cooked and had healthy, hearty breakfast. We spent a few hours after that doing each other’s own things separately. Having my class cancelled (again), I was left with about an hour extra. The time was spent on watching news coverage and document preparation for a meeting with a bank representative later.

In the afternoon, we went out to Barclay’s Bank for an appointment. Things went smoothly and we finished the business (of opening a new bank account that we had struggled before) within an hour. Yeah! #2

It was a bit after my usual lunchtime and we were hungry. We then went to a Thai restaurant called “My Thai” which was once recommended by Jan, my supervisor. For over two weeks, I had longed for a decent bowl of authentic Thai noodles and today was the day I reached my heaven on earth again.

Our lunch sets at My Thai

The food was authentic and tasted divine. I was elated by the food in every aspect from taste, service, to its portion size. However, we realized a few hours later that our dishes may be heavily flavored with MSG. But we forgave the chef because how tasty they were.

Our food (and drink) adventure continued. As we were crossing the street towards the city center, we spotted a cafe and then went right in. There before us was a huge chic cafe with friendly staff members and some cozy-looking seating areas. I was specifically impressed by the commitments the cafe has with the world environment. Here was the sign that caught my eyes while I was waiting for my latte to arrive.

All packages and bottles were environmental friendly. Very impressive!

We strolled in the city center for a bit before stopping by Bhak’s apartment to view it again. We did not like it at first but to our surprise, our feelings changed when we saw it today. Because of many reasons, especially its location and condition, we liked the apartment and decided to take the available bedroom from September onwards. This was perhaps one of the best pieces of good news for a while. This also means our apartment-hunt journey that has been ongoing for over a few months can now be officially over and I have earned back many more hours of my time to work! Yeah! #3

We went to a few more shops in search for a perfect coffee cup for P’Gluay. Unfortunately, there were none that we liked. So we stopped by Waitrose to get more groceries (again) before heading back home to cook our dinner.

The evening hours were the most productive time of the day. To be fair, I have to admit that I had gone out thinking that I would come back to work. So, the fact that I did some work means a lot as it literally means I accomplished my mental plan today. Although I did not read or write anything for my research proposal, the planning for it was done. As a newbie for planning, it took me a really long time to figure things out. Again, it was another accomplishment moment! Yeah! #4

Looking back through the day, I realize how much could be done if only I get up early and fresh. This is something I urgently need to work on now, to go to bed early. It seems like I might be failing at it again since it is almost midnight but I am sure it is going to get better and better.

Self-evaluation on time and life management on this: 7.15/10
Research Related Notes:
- My (rough) plan for the next ten weeks until the revised draft submission was done. I have to follow it strictly to avoid increasing level of stress later on.
- The first thing on the plan is to read, read and read (again).
