Day 129: 8/7/2018
One important lesson that came to mind while as I was walking out of the bathroom at the library today was that
“I have come to understand the merit of extensive reading for research today. As I have read extensively recently, I found that there is always something new for me to read, something new for me to learn. Therefore, as a researcher, I must read and try to stay up-to-date, especially in my area of expertise and interest and reading is an effective way to do so.
However, there is one sad fact. I can never catch up with all the literature in the field. There is one simple way to fix it though that is to keep reading until it becomes your habit.”
On another note, today was a great productive day in terms of work because things went as planned (well, roughly 90–95%). Last night, I spent so much time planning for today. Again, given the time I have left for the intervention studies section write up, I needed a well-planned schedule. I was not sure if the plan would and I would be able to stick with it throughout the day. But it worked!

As the day went on, of course, there were needs for me to modify my schedule. I must say though that I succeeded at keeping it. One thing that needed improvement was my cellphone use. Even though I wanted to control it, sometimes I automatically picked it up without a second thought. It should be noted that, nonetheless, the frequency was relatively low compared to other days.
One thing I love about planning and a day like this is that I feel motivated and that want to achieve more. It excites me to challenge myself whether I can carry this throughout the day. Certainly, I will try to maintain this as one of my everyday routine.
Self-evaluation on time and life management on this: 9/10
This is the first time ever that I have rated myself this high. Keep up the great work, Ying!
