Towards a PhD: Questionnaire Day

Day 17, Year 2: 4/16/2019

I called sick at work and worked on the questionnaire all day.

I got up in the morning, started off my morning routine and got ready for work. For a moment I stopped and felt not well due to the high body temperature which I have had it for the past few days. Thus, I decided to email my hiring manager to have sick day and worked at home instead.

Throughout the day I felt uncomfortable, not because I wanted to do something but rather because of the high temperature. Though I could still function fine, it felt not 100% me.

I reorganized my daily plan for a couple of times to best suit my time in order to get as much work done as possible. Just for a recap of the day, I reviewed and revised the questions, and read a few more articles exploring specifically at the participants’ perceptions of an approach or a training program. Along with those, I also read sections of two research methodology books added bits to my literature review. Today’s readings have provoked my thinking more on questions to be used both in the questionnaire and the interview with my participants. Thanks to Tangkwa who kindly nudged me to think more broadly and differently.

Reflection upon my work progress, I have yet to modify my overall work schedule for another time given an increasing amount of work I have. I am also contemplating whether to postpone my own email the draft to Jan deadline from Friday May 3 to the following Monday May 6 or Tuesday 7 instead. This will give me more time to review, revise and perhaps run a few trials before submitting them all to Jan prior to the next supervision meeting.

The questionnaire and systematic schedule development continues.
