Day 40: 5/10/2018

As a PhD student at the University of York, I get to have my very own working space, or actually a desk to simply put it. It may sound so mundane for everyone but for me who has been a phd student for a little over a month, this is something new and exciting.

It takes quite a bit of effort and special effects (this is really an overstatement) to earn a desk. For me I needed to contact the program coordinator, had her contact the RCeSS on my behalf and had the desk assignment. It was quite a tedious process since I came at a very uncommon time and all the desks at the Department of Education are all occupied with a long waitlist. However, I managed to earn one with help of Susan and Sermin.

my soon-to-be-messy desk

I am so drained that I need to come back with more details tomorrow before I pass out tonight.
