Day 265: 12/21/2018
I woke up to such excellent news for my research, the workshop to be exact!
Since it was a full snow day and we did not have much to do and see, we decided to get up late. It was the night I probably got the most hours of sleeping in many years. I slept for 10 hours straight from last night before 10 until 8 this morning. I felt completely rested and amazing!
Soon after I got up, I received a Facebook call from a faculty member of Faculty of Education, Suratthani Rajabhat University, P’Ying Putthachart. At her end, she was with Dr. Yod and I knew exactly that it must have been about the project and the budget plan for the next year. She told me that my workshop to be led by my supervisor will be financially supported by Dr. Yod’s project. This means that my supervisor’s trip will be funded by the faculty. It was such a huge piece of great news to me and for my research. Though I kind of saw this coming from the previous discussions with the dean, Dr. Yod and P’Ying but to have it confirmed brought me such a relief. Also, it is likely that I will have to work with them on another project or two funded by the same faculty as well. Yay!
After the wonderful morning, P’Gluay and I went out to explore Tignes since it is the day before the last day here. We went up to the top of Toviere by cable car just to learn that it was too windy and snow-stormy that the visibility was extremely low. Once we reached the top, everything was white and we could barely see the view as planned. Then we decided to come back down and go to another area.

The area we went was called Le Val Claret. Since we had the best deal meal there two days earlier, we thought it was a good idea to go back and explore a bit more. This time, we went to the same restaurant and re-experienced the French-English conversation again at check-out. We then moved on to the coffee shop right next door to enjoy the ‘proper’ coffee which we did not really have since day 1 in Tignes. Our lattes turned out to be just fine but not the best one we have had here.

Then we moved on to another small town called Le Lavachet near Le Lac where we stay. The snow shower was strong and it did not stop for a second. Despite the frigid temperature, we enjoyed the scenery and the moment. It was the longest snow shower and most snow accumulation I have experienced so far. Like two kids, we played and enjoyed ourselves in the snow today.

After all, we went back to Le Lac, bought some souvenirs to remind us our fond memories of our first snowboarding trip ever in Tignes. It was such a wonderful day filled withe good news, joy, and hope.
