Day 297: 1/22/2018

Today was the day devoted to ethics.

I made a few important phone calls regarding the ethics for my research today. Having thought (and worrying) so much about the ethics approval, I decided to first text to one Thai students Tangwa to ask about her experience with the ethics approval when conducting a study in Thailand university. Tangwa just came back to York not long ago after spending six months in Thailand to collect her research data. We discussed life and academic matters, especially PhD struggles we share. I called her to discuss my current issue and asked for advice. She was kind so much to share her fresh experience and explain what I should in mu situation.

Another phone call I made was to Jiggie, my secondary school friend who is currently working at Suratthani Rajabhat University’s Research Institute. I had not realized that Jig, in fact, should have been the first one I reach out to in consultant for this matter. Our chat lasted for a bit over half and hour and she spent her time listening to my situation, one aspect at a time, and offering me the solution with help from her. I remember saying to her, “you are my angel” which I completely meant it with all my heart.

I spent the rest of the afternoon and early evening hours working on what Jig had asked me to forward to her. I cannot thank her enough for offering the professional help and ensuring me that things will be alright.

At the end of the day, I am thankful for my two friends who were here to help at the right time. Hopefully, things will go smoothly as we expect.
