Day 290: 1/15/2019

Today I learn another lesson about pursuing a PhD.

One of the tasks that I have to do regularly while working on my PhD is to make decision. There are always things or options I need to carefully consider and decision and the result will directly affect my project.

It was evidenced again today. While working on my ethics application, I encountered several points I needed to make a clear choice whether to go with “yes” or “no.” On top of that, there were many points I found challenging to decide. This well depicts my life now.

Later while I was working on another paper, I was faced with an even more challenging dilemma. One the one hand, if I gave too much information, that could ruin or influence my research results. On the other, it would be very difficult for me to establish a healthy and trustworthy relationship and rapport between me and others involved in my research if I did not reveal sufficient information. It was a very tough call.

At the end of the day, the decision was made. I cannot be certain if they were the correct ones because no-one really knows the answers to those questions. We will soon find out what future holds.
