Day 40, Year 2: 5/9/2019

My day did not start until 9 and has not ended until now.

It was extremely difficult for me to fall asleep last night and that inevitably affected my day today. However, it did not affect me thoroughly for the entire day just the getting up part actually. I had set my alarm to get up at 7 but I did not feel or know when the alarm went off at all. That means, I was so tired that I was unconscious and unaware when the alarm went off and slept through it for another two hours. That really means something.

The day continued as I got up and started my morning routine as usual. This morning, I did not work on my PhD but helped Mo proofread his paper which was due today before noon. I worked for an hour or two before getting ready to work at the Global Engagement.

In the afternoon and evening, I worked another job at the restaurant. It was busy tonight but was worth every minute of it. In fact, I like when it is busy because time flies so fast that I do not usually notice. That is the beauty of the busy nights.

Whether I am consciously aware of it or not, it is relatively clear that the reason behind the difficulty to fall asleep for the past few nights was my worries about the research instrument. It is as if that at the back of my mind, I am well aware that it is approaching and my data collection, one of the most significant parts of my study, is happening soon. I also know that I am not completely ready for it and there is still a lot of work to do.

Let me work on it and let the worries fade away.
