Day 183: 9/30/2018

I am back to my forever best friend, the to-do list.

For the past few days, the thoughts of so many tasks I have to finish have been floating around in the air and in my head. So, I needed to do something with them. Of course, the first thing that came to my idea was to create a to-do list. Sometimes when I get too caught up, I tend to ignore this strategy despite its effectiveness. However, this time again I embraced welcome my old friend and created a new one.

Once it was created, the list has been growing steadily. I love that I know what I have to do and that simply reminds me of the fact that I am busy and I should spend my time more wisely. A to-do list always does that job and never disappoints me.

Today, I went to Cafe Nero near King Square to work there in the afternoon and I spent quite a decent chunk of time there. (Lately, I have enjoyed working at cafes and coffee shops.) Once I was there, the first thing I did was to open my old notes — the sixth supervision meeting notes and a to-do list created a few days ago. Doing so gave me a clear idea what task to tackle next and what I have left undone for too long and thus needs my immediate attention. For today, the answer was to revise a paper for submission and to write an abstract for that paper.

Then I spent two-three good hours working as if I was the only one in the cafe with 2 breaks in between. With that clear goal in mind, I was determined to finish.

By 4.10, I was able to complete the task and check off a few items on the list. It was such a sweet moment of accomplishment and this feeling keeps me wanting to go even more.

I am off to a good start and it is never too late to get back into my (old) routine. I so long to regain my old disciplined self, and I am sure I am coming back soon.
