Learn about others, learn about myself

I woke up this morning feeling so sleepy and a bit sluggish. (Well, blame it on constant lack of sleep and the heat of summer.)

“Why this week is so long” and “what day is it now,” two questions I asked myself once opened my eyes. I made it, however, to the bathroom, took a quick shower, had breakfast and headed to work. It was of course another day a regular day at work and by that I mean not much interesting going on. Today, I worked as a back-up and I realized it that I like it much better than regular front desk work that I have worked because I get to really concentrate on the task at hands and do not get interrupted that often.

For the past few days, I have missed working at home as the head of Office of Foreign Affairs back when I worked at Suratthani Rajabhat Univerity. Life is always unpredictable. And I am not an exception at all. One day I was the boss and not long after that I became totally no one working routinely as a front desk. But what keeps me going is that I learn something everyday. I remember when I first started this position a little over a year ago, it was such a pain in the ass. It took me so many days or even weeks to learn how things work in this office and of course people were always the most difficult part to deal with. My colleagues and I have become closer as we chat and share our personal stories from time to time.

Working with people from different background in definitely challenging. I learn to be more direct (and I’ve been learning it still) and learn to say “no”. Plus, I learn so much more about dealing with people, especially the difficult ones who always have their guards up and never want to listen to us. Not only have I learned about them but I have also learned a great deal about myself. Whenever a problem occurs, I always ask myself if I am responsible for that even for a tiny bit.

Well, my today’s journal is really all over the place and so I better stop right here right now. See you again tomorrow.
